Junia, a temporary, moveable, and tiny church in Nordhavnen, Copenhagen.
We imagined the church as a monumental figure living amongst the sheds of the harbour.
A figure, informed by simple structures of the area and the rich historical brick churches of the city.
We to took great joy in recognizing the contradiction between these two typologies.
As a result, the exterior and interior are not the same. Outside, a figure reaches toward the sky with white roofs, gables, and towers.
Familiar and strange at the same time.
Depending on distance and context, it could be huge or small.
The transition to the interior is celebrated with deep walls and a surprise vaulted space appears in the center.
A series of 19 doors allow the space to be transformed.
Open towards the world or closed for reflection and spirituality.
