Campo Aberto (open field) is an attitude of generosity that aims to prioritize the social and public condition of architecture operating from common sense, which is defined as a collective and strategic knowledge that looks at the space and their available resources.
We perceive architecture as a social activity, so the presence of spaces that celebrate and share their events with society are considered of high relevance in the aim of bringing together and creating new audiences for the new OA amenities.
As an accumulation process, the open field architecture works as a palimpsest, always looking at the pre-existences built as a means to bring their knowledge and recent past through a new contemporary identity.
The purpose for this new space aims to establish a direct connection bridge between the events provided by OA amenities and the curious public that is going through. An open gallery where your content is part of the daily life of that neighborhood, a public restaurant and formation rooms through the street compose a new proximity, opening the enclosed world of architects to the people.
Our proposal organizes the public spaces in a perimetral ring, trying to push the boundaries in a public way and also being realistic and honest about the (restricted) budget proposed by the competition itself. In order to meet this criteria, we decided just with a few operations, to resolve the program with a proactive attitude about the necessary proximity of all the rooms involved with the public space.
